Background: Adiponectin/Acrp30

Adiponectin, also known as Adipocyte complement-related protein of 30 kDa (Acrp30), is a secreted adipose tissue-specific protein. It is an anti-atherogenic, anti-diabetic and anti-inflammatory hormone that plays important roles in the regulation of lipid and glucose metabolism. Rat Adiponetin/Acrp30 shares 91% and 83% amino acid sequence homology with mouse and human Adiponectin/Acrp30, respectively.
