Background: Exostosin-like 1/EXTL1

Exostosin-like 1 (EXTL1) is a type II Golgi membrane protein and a glycosyl transferase that is required for the biosynthesis of heparan sulfate. The amino acid sequence of mouse EXTL1 is 92%, 76%, 75% and 74% identical to that of rat, chimpanzee, human and canine.
