Scientific Data
IFN‑ alpha in Human PBMCs and MCF-7 Human Cell Line. IFN-a was detected in immersion fixed human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs; left panel, positive stain) and MCF-7 human breast cancer cell line (right panel, negative stain) using Mouse Anti-Human IFN-a Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB93454) at 8 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL007) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm. Background: IFN-alpha
Interferon-alpha (IFN-alpha or IFN-alpha ), also known as leukocyte interferon, represents a group of related but distinct proteins that share over 95% amino acid sequence homology. They are members of the type I interferon family which share a common cell surface receptor composed of two subunits, a 100 kDa ligand-binding subunit (IFN-alpha R2) and a 125 kDa ligand binding and signal transduction subunit (IFN-alpha R1) that is involved both in ligand binding and signal transduction. Many IFN-alpha subtypes exist, IFN-alpha 1 to IFN alpha -21. The major subtypes identified are IFN-alpha 1, IFN-alpha 2, IFN-alpha 8, IFN-alpha 10, IFN-alpha 14 and IFN-alpha 21. MAB93454 detects human IFN-alpha 2a,4a,6,7,8,10,16, and 17 in direct ELISA.
