Neurotrophic Factors and Receptors

Neurotrophic factors are diverse group of proteins, classified as such based on their ability to support the growth and survival of neurons. They may also have additional roles including regulating synaptic connections and neuronal activity. They are critical players in nervous system development, adult nervous system homeostasis, and have putative roles in regeneration following nervous system injury. In this capacity, they may have therapeutic potential for neurodegenerative diseases.
