MEM Sodium Pyruvate Solution 100mM Summary

The 100 mM sodium pyruvate solution is a 100X concentrate that, when diluted appropriately in culture media, supplies the amount of pyruvate normally found in MEM culture media (1 mM).

The Importance of Pyruvate in Cell Culture.

Pyruvate is involved with amino acid metabolism and initiates the Kreb’s cycle. Sodium pyruvate can be used by cells as a readily accessible carbon source for energy production and other critical metabolic pathways, bypassing the need to produce it biosynthetically from glucose or amino acids. Some cell lines require the addition of pyruvate to the culture media since they lack the ability to convert glucose or amino acids into pyruvate. The MEM Sodium Pyruvate Solution is supplied as a 100mM (11.0 g/L) solution. Once diluted in medium, it supplies the amount of pyruvate found in MEM culture media. Product Use The recommended use concentration for this MEM Sodium Pyruvate Solution in culture media is 10 mL/L
