Bio-Techne Go Everywhere Travel Grant – May Recipient Selected!
May 2017 Go Everywhere with Bio-Techne Travel Grant Awarded to PhD Candidate from Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery!
Bio-Techne launched its Go Everywhere Travel Grant Program which awards $1000 USD (or equivalent) to 1 researcher each month to attend the meeting of their choice. This grant program allows the researcher to attend more targeted meetings in their field and provides funding to support both small and large scientific associations that promote discovery and collaboration.
The recipient of the May 2017 grant is Hannah Leeson, a PhD Candidate at Griffith University in Nathan, Australia!
Hannah Leeson, a PhD Candidate at Griffith University in Nathan, Australia is the May Recipient of the Bio-Techne Go Everywhere Travel Grant in 2017
Ms. Leeson is conducting her research in the Weible Group at the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery. She has chosen to attend the ComBio 2017 conference in Adelaide, Australia!
Her work centers on adult neurogenesis which is a highly regulated balance between cellular proliferation, maturation, and death. The molecular mechanisms controlling these processes must be understood before we can begin utilizing neurogenesis as a therapy for stroke, trauma, or neurodegenerative disorders. She is currently investigating the role of the purinergic receptor P2X7 in neural progenitor cells and differentiation.
When Hannah accepted the grant from Bio-Techne, she stated:
“I'd like to again express my gratitude to Bio-Techne for this grant! I really appreciate the opportunity it gives me to share my work at a relevant scientific meeting.”
In her research, Hannah utilizes several antibodies from Novus Biologicals, compounds from Tocris Biologicals including P2X7 Inhibitors, and cell culture products from R&D Systems.
Bio-Techne and our brands are proud to support Hannah’s work and the work of many of the researchers that have applied to our travel grants so far this year. If you are interested in applying to any of our travel grants, please go to www.rndsystems.com/travel.
