Scientific Data
Detection of Human/Mouse/Rat PI 3-Kinase p55 gamma by Western Blot. Western blot shows lysates of SH-SY5Y human neuroblastoma cell line, C2C12 mouse myoblast cell line, and Rat-2 rat embryonic fibroblast cell line. PVDF membrane was probed with 1 µg/mL of Human/Mouse/Rat PI 3-Kinase p55 gamma Antigen Affinity-purified Polyclonal Antibody (Catalog # AF5734) followed by HRP-conjugated Anti-Goat IgG Secondary Antibody (Catalog # HAF109). A specific band was detected for PI 3-Kinase p55 gamma at approximately 55 to 57 kDa (as indicated). This experiment was conducted using Immunoblot Buffer Group 1.

Background: PI 3-Kinase p55 gamma
p55 gamma (Protein of 55 kDa, gamma subunit; also PI 3-Kinase regulatory subunit gamma and p55PIK) is a 55-57 kDa member of the PI 3K p85 family of regulatory subunits. It is widely expressed and serves as a recruitment subunit for the p110 catalytic subunit of PI 3-Kinase. p55 gamma /p55PIK should not be confused with the 55 kDa alpha splice variant of the p85 alpha gene (75% amino acid [aa] identity). Human p55 gamma is 461 aa in length and contains a unique 34 aa N-terminus that binds Rb and prevents cycle progression, followed by a Pro-rich region (aa 35-44) and two SH2 domains that bind the p110 catalytic subunit (aa 65-160 and 358-452).
