Scientific Data
ABI1 in A549 Human Cell Line. ABI1 was detected in immersion fixed A549 human lung carcinoma cell line using Mouse Anti-Human ABI1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB10249) at 8 µg/mL for 3 hours at room temperature. Cells were stained using the NorthernLights™ 557-conjugated Anti-Mouse IgG Secondary Antibody (red; Catalog # NL007) and counterstained with DAPI (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm. View our protocol for Fluorescent ICC Staining of Cells on Coverslips.
ABI1 in Human Brain Tissue. ABI1 was detected in immersion fixed paraffin-embedded sections of human brain (cortex) tissue using Mouse Anti-Human ABI1 Monoclonal Antibody (Catalog # MAB10249) at 1.7 µg/mL for 1 hour at room temperature followed by incubation with the Anti-Mouse IgG VisUCyte™ HRP Polymer Antibody (Catalog # VC001). Before incubation with the primary antibody, tissue was subjected to heat-induced epitope retrieval using Antigen Retrieval Reagent-Basic (Catalog # CTS013). Tissue was stained using DAB (brown) and counterstained with hematoxylin (blue). Specific staining was localized to cytoplasm in neurons. View our protocol for IHC Staining with VisUCyte HRP Polymer Detection Reagents.

Background: ABI1
Abelson Interactor 1 (ABI1) is an adaptor protein involved in cytoskeletal reorganization and EGFR signaling. Overexpression of ABI1 inhibits EGF-induced activation of Erks which negatively regulate cell growth and transformation. In the brain, ABI1 seems to regulate dendritic outgrowth and determines the shape and number of synaptic contacts of developing neurons.
